Description

Photo Date : 23/03/2007
Camera : Nikon D70s
Lens : 50mm AF f/1.4

This funny fish live in the big aquarium of my sister. For take this shot I have had use the manual focus, because the autofocus don't work well behind the glass. Is difficult use the manual focus with a short depth of field meanwhile the fish don't stop to move !

In the end I have work well with f/2, ISO 800 and time of 1/80.

I think that my D70s have do her best and have reward me with some lowly noise. See a detail of the fish in the additional download if you want.

As always... hope you like it ! :)

EDIT:
I have add a cropped version in the additional downloads. Thanks to all for the calls and the precious councils.
:)

Very well done, must have been tricky !!!
I fear i will have to suggest the obvious ...
Crop to get the fish out of the center,
An ideal one would be croping out shadow area below & from the fish's tail at the left !!!

yes needs some cropping. -overall as is you have 'spots' in FG, BG, rock, and fish of course. so cropping to make him standout among all the other 'spots' would help. I can only imagine the challenge here you've taken on so really good effort!!

I like it but finds the background little distracting. And some more cropping maybe

I like!

I totally dig the colours, and I appreciate your effort to get him in focus.

Just consider cropping as some people say.

A tighter crop would improve the composition a lot. Also there seems to be a green cast to the photo.

Agree about the crop, I used to have one of these little catfish! Maybe more of a rule of thirds composition would be beneficial, hope this helps!

Ok Ok guys... you have won ! :p
Usually I don't like crop a lot my images, but this time you have right !
I want that my shots can be printed. I don't want show you an image that can't be printed in a good large format. When I crop an image I try to do it the less possible and preserve the original ratios. Maybe is an old habitude from my coolpix.

So... I have add in the additional download the cropped shot.
I have cut the leaf on the left that was distracting and the lower shadows.

Thanks to all for the comments !
Always good and constructive ... they help me a lot !

Funny, earlier on when I knew less on photography (not that I know much more but still :p) I used to crop a lot.

Once you really get to know what composition you are aiming for you do less cropping imo.

Shooting with the fish in the center cause you have the focus there is maybe solved by using selective focus area in your camera (think you should have this feature). Then suddenly the need for cropping is less obvious.

For distant bird shots I can understand the need for cropping but in most cases it is an excuse for not having composed the shot well...

In your case the cropped version looks quite fine ;)
